I am from Adelaide in South Australia, where I studied Nutrition and Dietetics and began working as a community dietitian and health promotion officer focusing on non-communicable diseases. After a few years of work in community health, I was inspired to do something a bit different. I applied for a position with the Timor-Leste Ministry of Health Nutrition Department through an Australian Volunteer Program. To my surprise, I got it! I lived and worked in Timor-Leste for 18 months, and what a life-changing experience it was. To pursue work of this nature, I decided to apply for a Masters course, which brings me to where I am now; studying a Masters of Global Health at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden. I am motivated to contribute to improving global maternal and child nutrition.
Being new to the field, and exploring what was out there for young professionals I came across GHNGN; wow, what a group of passionate people! GHNGN is one of few platforms where young professionals can share, learn, network, and explore avenues for future careers. We are inspired to raise the voice and gain momentum for Global Health.
